Other than to make the finish on the first stage have the sand blasted look rather than the polished look and feel. But they have an all NEW VX4 which shares the same second stage as the VX10, but has a balanced piston rather than a balanced diaphram first stage. If your a piston person this would give you the best of both worlds. They have also made some changes to the 2nd stage makeing it lighter than its previous model. It also has a larger exhaust valve with a center exhaust flow divider to prevent water penetration in a heavy flow when the reg is turned sideways. I finally got some of these and took them apart to inspect the insides and things seem to be OK from what I've seen so far. From extensive use of the VX second stage and many other divers that I know using them I don't think that you will be unhappy with the VX4 or 10.
