It is displayed in the mail message. So when a person checks mail, they have to wait for the text and the image to download before it can be read. Then find out it was something stupid. And since most people on internet mailing lists don't use AOL it's not cool to send images that way. That guy should've put that image on a web page then whoever wanted to see it could've.
