Chris, You should have a look at the April BYTE magazine. It has several items about Apple, but two especially about the MAC/NeXT OS that are relevant to developers. Page 26. And in a separate piece on page 149: "While one might dispute Steve Job's statement that with NextStep two guys in a garage can quickly create programs with a finished quality that would take far longer for a much larger team of experts working in Windows, there's some truth there." Apparently, for potential MAC developers there are now several paths to the new MAC OS, codenamed RHAPSODY. You can choose to write to the MAC OS, the OpenStep API's or to use the NextStep Developer's tools, as well as other tools by second-party developers now in the works. " . . . writing to OpenStep bestows an almost Javaesque reach for the application. Once written, it need only be recompiled to run on various flavors of Unix and Windows NT." You can find some or all of this at BYTE's website. JoeL -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
