Chris, time to update our software article with the new
stuff you are doing. On the light issue, the absolute
unequivocal best is the Gavin light, but Gavin is sailing in
the Carribean for a year . Behind that is the AUL, a Gavin
design without the details, but Arnold is apparently making
a version that will incorporate these specifications.
The Ralph Hodd light is a complete piece of shit - there
is absolutely nothing in this light that is done properly,
and he has introduced new failure modes not found in other
lights. Besides being a hard-headed know-it-all , Ralph
would not know what a real cave light looked like, or was
used for. He also makes the mistake of badmouthing Bill
Gavin's lights and scooters, when he clearly is the
frontrunner in documented stupidity. Give this guy a huge
wide berth. If you want to know all of the details of why
the Hood light is the absolute worst, and I mean give me a
square light before you give me a Hood, I will be glad to
tell you.
One of the webb pages has a detailed picture of my
light, I think Roger Herring took the pictures - in that you
will see a lot of the detail, and for the hidden detail, I
will be glad to tell you privately.
