Scott,
Lot's of diving opportunities in Milwaukee...that is, if you like
lake Michigan Wreck Diving or local quarry ice diving. As of this moment
the lake is pretty much ice free, and wind is out of the west which means
good viz, although who knows what it'll be in April. There are local
charter boats that go out on a pretty regular basis. My suggestion would
be to call one of the local dive shops and inquire about charters. More
times than not there are people in the area that would love to show you
some local diving. Besides lake michigan, there are some quarries
and lakes which come to mind which offer the visiting diver some
interesting opportunities.......that is, if you get into ice
diving (hopefully by april there won't be any ice!). We still have about 6-8
inches on Racine's quarry. This past sunday, viz was around 20 feet
under the ice. I think your best option for our area around the second
week of april would be lake Michigan, the ice will probably be pretty
thin if not gone by then, and I think you'd be pretty impressed with
what lake michigan has to offer. If you can't find anyone, drop me a
private e-mail. I can give you additional local info. Otherwise I'd love
to show you some of our sites. I'm out most every weekend...weather
depending. Safe diving!
