I was content on just lurking and letting this thread burn itself out -
that was before you suggested Sarah McLachlan as pre-dive music :).  Let
me contribute by suggesting the following;

The Clash - Anything from "London Calling"
Anything from Janes Addiction - Ritual de Lo Habitual is especially good
Anything from The Cure
Soundgarden - Outshined
U2 - Anything from October, Boy, or War
etc . . 

And for those of you who prefer something with a little harder edge:

Pantera - Far Beyond Driven or Cowboys From Hell
Sepultura - Chaos AD or Roots

Music is as individual as the person - just adding my $0.02.
