At an Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society meeting held in Toronto shortly after the article, this myth was dispelled. When questioned as to why a chamber operator would say such a thing, Hal Koch then chief of Hyperbaric Medicine at Toronto General Hospital replied "we know not what they do, and nor do they".
