Subject: Deeptech Subscription
Curt,

I've been a subscriber from the very first issue and have very much enjoyed
Deeptech
until the last 2 issues. I am afraid I am seeing a trend but I hope that is
the case.

Starting with issue #6 there have appeared a number of statements that are
derogatory
towards women. The latest issue, which I just received (#7) contains this
trash in
nearly every article. I can't believe that Deeptech has published some of
these
statements. I'm sure you can figure out what I mean, I don't care to repeat
them.
Would you be proud to show these to your grandmother? Your daughter? They
have
nothing whatsoever to do with technical diving.

I am not done with all the articles, but the one by Rob Palmer is by far the
best and
the only one that isn't degenerate. I'd like to see more articles like it and
the one
on decompression theory.

I am also surprised that the magazine has become a huge advertisement for Bret
Gilliam
and Uwatec. Articles about his heroism, articles about his companies products,
articles about trips he's sponsering, interviews with him where he touts his
products.
Wow. I know he's a co-owner, but really, there is more happening than that in
the
diving world. I enjoy some advertisements, but how about some balance?

I subscribed for the technical articles, photos, diagrams, etc not the
immorality.
Fred Garth even says in his editorial that Deeptech will not go the way of
Aquacorps
with all the bizarre erotica, then you publish a magazine filled with trash.
If this
is the direction Deeptech is headed, please cancel my subscription and refund
my money.

Sincerely,

Paul Kaufman
