To get nylon webbing in various thicknesses/strengths, check with your local neighborhood drop zone/parachuting school. Ask for their local rigger. You'd be *amazed* what a good rigger can do for you for minimal charges. They have/can get various kinds of webbing, velcros, zippers, etc., and have sewing machines and skills to fabricate custom pouches, pockets, lift bags -- whatever you can think of/need. Many riggers are males who know how to sew -- so would qualify as "girlie-men" to some users of these diving lists -- but ignore the opinions of insecure assholes and do yourself a favor by hooking up with a good parachute rigger. Your webbing/grommet/repair/custom fabrication problems will be over. Christopher A.
