Josep, This does not sound like a sand related problem which usually leads to a flow by holding open a valve. Unless you crack or break the housing or the diaphram leaks I don't see any way water can enter the second stage unless you are letting the hose pull on it so that water enters at the corner of your mouth. Believe it or not, with tired jaws, slightly numbed lips, and a preoccupied mind, it is quite easy for this to happen without your realizing it. I've had it happen to me a time or too on long dives and the fact that the second stages worked perfectly on the second leg points to something like this also. In other words - Maybe you're just not holding your mouth right ! :) By the way: If you decide to put nylon in your mouthpieces use a little glue and pull the tie wraps up real tight. Nylon is slippery against plastic and makes it easier for the mouthpiece to slip off. Kind of tough trying to breath that piece of nylon too. A light film of "Goop" or "Shoe Goo" is excellent for this ! Chuck -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
