If you break game over!! But to not use the one thing that has proven successful time and time again (a PROPERLY USE LINE REEL) is foolish. Properly used means: 1. Properly tied off in OPEN WATER 2. Properly deployed, placed, and secondarily tied off 3. Properly placed or tied off during the dive (the fewer tie offs the better) 4. Back reference your position frequently not obsessively 5. Proper retrieval upon exiting This takes practice and experience. Don't try to learn it in a wreck or cave. Practice on dry land then in open water were you are not likely to kill yourself when you tangle our self up in your own string. It will happen once or twice until you get some practice. If possible find someone who knows how to run a line to give you some tips. Or better yet find an instructor that knows what he/she is doing. This piece of string might save your life some day. Learn to use it properly. Used properly it is your best friend. Used improperly it is your worst nightmare Bill <<aquadart> Bott <color><param>0000,0000,ffff</param><<aquadart@ix*.ne*.co*></c olor> -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
