lights.  The fact the Aluminum conducts electricity is a good thing.  You
have one less wire to worry about as the case could be used to carry current

 I think cost of manufacturing and weight of such a light would be better
arguments for why one would no want to make backup lights from Aluminum.
 Pound for pound plastics give a better bang for the buck in this (light)
case.  Molding and extruding plastics is faster, cheaper, and easier than
milling or machining Aluminum.  further, plastics are more than suitable for
a "light" duty task like this.
