Neal Harman has made a number of very good points. I think this
conversation has gone about as far as it can without it appearing
that I have a gripe against the CDG. I don't. Some members of the
CDG have been very helpful to me. I was really just looking for
clarification on where they stand.

I especially appreciate the fact that the CDG really isn't in a
position to set itself up like IANTD, and I'm not sure it should.
Quite aside from the resources and effort to provide instruction
in this activity, there is a certain atmosphere in groups like
this that you lose when things get commercial. I think we are
seeing (have seen) this change in BSAC. I suspect that SSAC (the
diving club I belong to) is going the same way. I hope not.
