Talking about Phil Nuyton, the guy with the 1 ATM hard suit, the NewtSuit. I mentioned that I had seen a mini-sub he has made for commercial sale at a dive show recently. In an article I got there on it, he mentioned his suit as well, and how easy it was to build. He went on about how his people thought he was crazy, but he wanted to show people how to build simple versions. He said that unless he saw somebody else building a suit like his and giving him competition, it would mean that his suit wasn't a good idea and people didn't want it. I'm hoping there will be more details in the next aquaCorp (due real soon now). Maybe there will even be an ad in the back for plans, like those subs in the back of Popular Science..... Also, speaking of Cousteu (really wish I could spell today. Not sure about Cousteu or Nuyton). At the same show, they had a backpack of his: it had a hard shell, and was only 5 or 6 inches thick. Inside the shell, against your back, there were 4 little cylinders, maybe 4 or 5 inches in diameter and 2 or 3 feet long. Really really trim and light. It was incredibly high pressure, however, and held 200 cubic feet of air. I wanted one badly. Hope Santa reads this list. If I haven't been good enough to get a Cis-Lunar this year, I'll be pretty damn happy with that backpack. -------------The guy who draws Dilbert is following me. ======================================================= Roger Carlson w 310-812-0430 somewhere off Hermosa Beach, CA f 310-812-1363 roger@ch*.sp*.tr*.co* h 310-frogger =======================================================
