Don't be. We had this same flame war about 2 or 3 years ago, but a lot of new 
folks have joined since then, so it can be informative. 

At first I thought my mailer was regurgitating the previous flame war on this 
subject, but some of the names were different. That indicates that a lot of new 
folks hadn't been exposed to the arguments.

Those who have already made up their minds can just delete the messages. Those 
who want to hear the pros and cons can read through them and may end up diving 
safer. Maybe not, but at least they have been exposed to the arguments instead 
of just what they were taught.

Like others have said, it is healthy to challenge our procedures now and then 
and go through the logical exercise. Maybe somebody will not die on a dive 
because of it.
