I was stationed on a 688 class submarine in Pearl Harbor for 3 years and I do not recall ever finding or charting anything on the bottom. When transiting between islands we would stay fairly far from the bottom and are not very concerned with things on the bottom. It also requires use of active sonar to find things on the bottom, which SSNs don't like to use very much. Jeff
