Just thought I'd let some of the rebreather dudes on the list know... I just got off the phone with Marco Flagg, of Desert Star Systems, makers of the decompression computer "DiveTracker DTX". Many of you know this computer from the Rebreather Forum - and from Rod Farb's web page on DiveNet. Well, Marco told me that he's too worried about liability to make any more of these, so it looks like Rod has a one-off computer that no one else will be able to buy or dive with. He's hoping that he can put together a deal with BioMarine to market a new computer for the CCR-500's, but that isn't going to happen for quite a while (according to Marco). So, if you're one of the many BioMarine divers, or CCR-500 divers-in-waiting, you won't be able to buy a computer that monitors your ppO2 and calculates your deco until some one else comes up with it. Chris Parrett told me at the forum that he is developing a computer for rebreathers, but I haven't heard anything about that since then. Maybe he'll sense the market need for this kind of product and forge ahead. My personal feeling is that Marco weenied-out, and let the lawyers scare him off. That is too bad. Kevin HeyyDude
