  Bill, the mouthpiece thing is up to your judgement - look at it and see if it 
will work in the situations we are talking about. Also, you can cut them back a 
little , and just having a hard one that holds the reg securely gives you a
much 
better feeling of holding onto the reg without effort ( a flimsy one makes yo 
bit harder to evercome the feeling of losing it). We are keenly aware of this 
due to the long in water times.

  The lose routing makes a big difference, too: if the hose is coming from 
around your head, the pull of the water is not directly on your mouth.
