Japanese manufactured O2 rebreather featured on Beyond 2000 a few years ago.
It used two small O2 canisters, and two flexible (accordian type) hoses that
wrapped around the head where the Co2 scrubber was located. (The hoses
flexibility was supposed to decrease the chances of AGE.) It was an extremely
simple system. They instructed users to breath at the surface as deeply as
possible before descending to get as much atmospheric N2 as possible in their
lungs so the PPN2 was as large as possible (to avoid Oxtox, ect). The unit of
course is meant for shallow diving only, but any rebreather is better than
none from a photographers view point.

I would disagree. I saw the same broadcast (july 4). Did you notice how out
of breath the person was each time she came to the surface (sound a little
like a CO2 hit?) I do not know if it was her breathing (full exhalation given
the volume of the hose lrading to increased CO2) or the device itself (maybe
both). As I am not a photographer I do not know but I think that 10 minutes at
15 feet is a waste of time and effort. It occurs to me that unless the person
using this device is trained in the oxygen limits (CNS O2 toxicity) that it
would be REAL EASY to *forget* to hard floor of this device especially for
those that this device is intended for, uncertified individuals that want to
explore SCUBA without the time and effort for SCUBA certification (those most
likely to NOT HAVE such training).
