Subject: Cleaning tanks with 409

A few days ago, someone commented on O2 cleaning a tank with a 409
solution. Anyone care to post a synopsis? I have to O2 clean my 30
cu foot pony for this class I'm taking...the valve isn't a problem if
I ignore the seat, (I got the O-Rings, and I have the GMC O2 safe
lube).

I'll bet that the bottle of 409 doesn't have instructions on the
side (Degreasing for O2 service: Use a 10% solution at a minimum
temperature of 110F. Rinse for 10 minutes. Rinse again with hot
clean water, followed by cooler water.) so I thought I'd ask here.

By the way, I have some stuff called GMC Compound B, which is
advertised as a 'Flash Rust Preventer'. You are supposed to be able
to take a tumbled tank and rinse it with a solution of this stuff,
which will (supposedly) keep flash rust from forming. I was thinking
about it for Genesis cleaning.

Does anyone know if this stuff is O2 safe? If not, I'll give GMC a
call and ask them.
