TEN RULES FOR SUCCESS AND happiness IN N.E.WRECK DIVING 1 do not be
arrogant, show your lowest acceptable level c-card to the divemaster and
log book ( arrogant assholes always drown eventually) make sure you
are on the roster so they don't leave with out you later( PRINT BIG) 2
dive alone , with redundant air, buoyancy, lift bag, up-line or reel ,and
SKILL ( if the boat won't let you, vote with your dollars)2a
ok you can dive with a partner, but only if you know each other REALLY
well, and have been diving together for years ( if some one tries
to assign you a " buddy " ( liability,millstone around neck
,pain in the ass,) RUN don't walk away from that operation) 3 If
conditions suck, i e. big waves, current , zero visibility, stay on
the boat , and cut your losses (judgment call) 4 do not drink too
much alcohol, ( never before diving) or take any drugs for fun 5 be
as physically fit as you can, gym or equivalent is a must 6 have good
regulators ,buoyancy compensator, and dry suit, and make sure they
are in working order before you get on the boat, or pack for the
trip. ( carry spare hoses, "o" rings etc) 7 if you can't climb the
ladder , the shit is too heavy for you , use lighter stuff or make
arrangements to get out of your stuff in the water ,clip it to
a line (practice this) and climb up unincumbered. 8 get your tanks
and regulators set up before the boat gets in the ocean. secure
your stuff so manifolds, valves and regulators don't get smashed by
falling over if adequate fastening stuff is not available you should
start having misgivings about the operation 9 always keep your
gear in your bag, crate , tub if you are not wearing it , so it
doesn't get lost , go out a scupper, or in someone else's gear bag
by accident ( tie this stuff down) 10 to avoid sea sickness, get
adequate sleep, eat, but not greasy stuff, take an anti motion
sickness medicine ,but find out if it adversely effects you
first ( If the wind is blowing shit over the hills(> 32-mph) leave a
check and drive home, skip the vomiting and the beating)
