Let me explain in other word.

Whatever pressure you have in your tank, you always have 120 cu.ft in 
your tank.  120 cu.ft is the volume of air and is independent of the 
pressure.

If you put 2640 psi in your tank, it just means that you have more =
air 
in the same 120 cu.ft volume.  You just compressed more air in the =
same 
volume, therefore the pressure is higher.
