Reima Raty asks about table & computer use for technical diving. Aquacorps #1 has some good articles on computer use for deco diving. I personally use an Aladin Pro computer for decompression diving, and many other people I know use Buhlmann-based computers for this. I tend to use the computer conservatively when diving or decompressing on air, staying 5-10 fsw below the indicated decompression stop depth, and then hanging at 10-15 feet for while after the computer clears me. This adds a healthy safety margin to the computer algorithm (Buhlmann), which is already somewhat more conservative than the Navy tables. If I am decompressing on O2 or EAN, then I go strictly according to the computer for the stops on which I am on O2-enriched breathing mix, since that in itself adds safety. Using an EAN bottom mix according to air tables or computers also adds a lot of safety.
