>There ARE those people who are capable of special types of Tech diving, even >though they hold no card, ... >Tim Olson Very true. The cave community had the only non-recreational certifying agencies until a couple of years ago. Today they are springing up everywhere. Some are too profit oriented to suit me, although a recent addition looks very promising. Anyone seeking specialized training would do well to check out the instructor's qualifications as well as the certifying agency. Some time ago, I heard the head of one of the technical diving agencies made his first mixed gas dive AFTER his first class of tri-mix students surfaced from their first mixed gas dive. Ouch! - Wayne To everyone on Techdiver: Since I'm new to the list and have a tendency to jump into conversations with both feet, I thought something in the way of an introduction might be appropriate. I started diving in 65 and am a cave diver with deep/mix/dpv, etc. experience. I feel strongly about certain subjects and will state my opinion. It is just that, an opinion -- feel free to disagree. -wg
