Couple of things: 1. I haven't noticed much in the way of advertising on here since I've been subscribed, except for Chris and his Abyss software. 2. Even though Chris keeps everyone "informed" about his software, he also contributes information to the list on a regular basis. Some people like his info, some do not, but information and opinions it is. 3. I've never heard of Jim Greenlee until he popped his head up to start pissing and moaning about advertising on techdiver. Curiously, I notice he's doing the same thing on rec.scuba (where I'm only looking for a Haskell, o.k? Don't give me shit.). 4. Anyone stupid enough to try to use this group to blatantly advertise some useless product would soon fall under the very accurate cross-hairs of guys like Geo, et al. Mike Severns would also send Kimo to deliver the Hawaiian Death Grip to them. 5. If ANYTHING on this list pisses you off, like advertising, or even Pyle's insistence on discussing diving in pink lycra (or was that "Pinks" lycra?), then you are free to delete the message, or unsubscribe, and return to some crummy newsgroup that is so full of Spam it would feed the 7th Fleet for a year.
