I don't understand how this would work.  When a bulb normally operates, 
the electricity passes through the bulb, thereby creating a complete 
circuit.  Since a short would have less resistance than the filament, and 
since most of the electricity follows the path of least resistance, it 
would seem to me that the bulb would be effectively bypassed.  Basically, 
a lot of current would flow through the short, thereby heating up the 
wires and battery and draining the battery until it possibly did damage 
to it.  

Is this not right?
