You can do this with a magnetic switch without having to compromise the integrity of the battery or light-head compartment with another through port. If you are in a hurry to test your ideas you should be able to get some RG-8/U or RG-214 coax for just about free at a local hamfest. It's 13 AWG and it takes compression well. Regards, John
