Hello all you tech divers,

i'm new to the tech diving scene but ive got all the right equipment, at least
4 tanks, a helmet, posidon regs and two of every thing. as one famous tekkie
says in his multitude of magazine articles "redundancy, redundancy,
redundancy".
I'm a certified PADI advanced open water diver and also have my Rescue diver
card and i never dive without a buddy. I'm looking forward to my nitrox course
because ill be able to do all these technical deep dives then.
Can anyone give me any advice on tech diving? Thanks for listening,
Bye.

Scott,

you are obviously quite ambitious! However looking at your equipment list, it
is inadequate to say the least. To do deep dives safely, and hang your 4 tanks,
you will need a Diverite Transpac with redundant wings. Otherwise you will sink!
All these tanks weigh heaps, so you will need the huge bouyancy.

Furthermore, as it is very dark down there you will need a Diverite Neutralite
with the double battery pack. This is a big torch (for safety), so to remain
streamlined (which you will learn in your tech training) you will need to butt
mount the light. This serves a dual purpose; the tank D rings used to secure
your light can now be used to clip off all the things you rarely need like your
liftbag, reel, hammers and chisels or anything else you can't leave home
without.

Also you will need an isolation manifold, EPIRB, flares, spare mask, spare fin
strap, and a signalling device such as a hammerhead. Your helmet will come in
handy to read your PVC pipe deco tables strapped to your wrist. (I have found 4
torches the ideal number to mount on my helmet, six for the big dives).

These are just some of the pointers given me by my Tech Instructors. You really
will need tech instruction and all this stuff because tech diving is dangerous;
two of my instructors didn't make it back from tech dives, so this is serious
stuff.

Hope this helps,
Troppo.
