Here is a brief summary of some recent explorations done in France. All
depth and distance are in meter, I am sure you will all know how to
convert... I mentionned only cave explorations in France for the last months
with depths greater than 100m/330ft.
I hope you will enjoy reading these news from France. Let me know if you
wants some particular details. All the divers involved in this explorations
represent the top of the cave divers in France excepted for myself!
Let keep in mind that behind every divers mentionned, there are teams
involved, which are very skilled and they should be all associated to these
successfull explorations.
Cave: Fontaine de Vaucluse Depth: -195m/650ft

Not really exploration as J.Hasenmayer stopped at 210m but Sylvain Redoutay
(French) dived last weekend down to 195m on Trimix. Origin of the
decompression procedure is unknown. Sylvain left his reels at 195m in
prevision of a future dive (I heard about 250m). Dive duration was 11h40 for
30min bottom time. Sylvain Redoutay has been working on long dive duration
and performed an immersion over 20hours. This dive was done during an
exploration session with the ROV. The ROV is now entangled in Sylvain's line
165m deep!! At the last news, Olivier Isler should attempt to recover the
ROV soon and Sylvain is no longer allowed to dive the Fontaine anymore...
Cave: Goule de la Tannerie Depth: -165m/550 ft

Olivier Isler (Swiss) reached -165m at about 1000m from the entrance in this
spring. The first 700m of the cave have an average depth of 10m. Dive
performed on Trimix with a Decompression procedure calculated by J.P.
Imbert. Further exploration is on going.Dive exploration around 10hours.
Water Temp 13 Deg C(55 Deg F). A decompression habitat has been installed
700m from the entrance but not used due to technical problem.
Cave: Foux du Mas de Banal Depth -150m/500ft

Pascal Bernabe (French) reached the depth of 150m at 260m from the entrance
after a serie of dive. Reels is in place for future exploration. Dives were
done on Trimix using Doris decompression table. Bottom time is 20min and the
last dive last for 9hours. Exploration on going. Water temp 13 deg C (55 deg F)
Cave: Font Estramar Depth -147m/490ft

Cyril Brandt (Swiss) reached -147m at 1100 from this entrance. Average depth
on the first 800m is 50m. Dive done on Trimix with decompression with Doris
tables. Dive duration was around 10 hours. Water Temperature is
exceptionnaly high in this spring at 18deg C (65deg F). Exploration on
going. Aquazepp DPV used
Cave: Resurgence de la Touvre -141m/470ft

Ludovic Giodarno (French) reached -131m in the third shaft of this complex
system. dive performed on Trimix with decompression calculated by J.P.
Imbert. Dive duration 6.5 hours.
Then Pascal Bernabe (French) dived the second shaft down to 124m before he
connected with the 3rd shaft. From there, he descended in the 3rd shaft down
to 141m deep. Dive duration was 8 hours. Decompression calculated by
J.P.Imbert. Water temp 13 Deg C(55 deg F). Decompression habitat used.
Exploration on going
Cave: Grotte du diable Depth -137m/456ft

Luigi Casati (Italian) reached -137m in the 3rd sump of this system. First
sump is 30m long depth -2m, second sump is 40m long depth -5m. Third sump
has been dive over a distance of 400m. Dive done with Trimix and using doris
decompression tables. Water temp was around 8 deg C(46 deg F). Part of the
team was J.J Bolanz (Swiss).Exploration on going.
Cave: Source de la Marnade Depth -121m/403ft

Frederic Badier (French) reached -121m in the 3rd sump of this system, it
seems to be the bottom of the sump. First sump is long of 400m with an
average depth of -30m. Second sump is 120m long with a depth of 7m. Third
sump has been explored on 350m long.Total system length is 1200m. Dive
performed on Trimix with decompression calculated by J.P. Imbert.
Exploration duration 12hours. Water temp 13 Deg C(55 deg F). AquaZepp DPV
used. Exploration on going
Cave: Resurgence de Gourneyras.-102m/340ft.

Marc Douchet reached the depth of 102 m at 1100m from the entrance. Average
depth up to 900m is around 65m. Dive performed on Trimix. Decompression
procedure: Doris. Water temperature 11Deg C (52Deg F). Decompression habitat
used. AquaZepp DPV used.Exploration on going.
That all for now but I am sure that this summary will be out of date in few
months.
