Jim, I am glad this worked out for you. There are a couple of little tricks
that give the feeling of comfort or the lack thereof - one is that the webbing
underface must follow your body to the lower notch. The side with the d-ring
is
the side that is facing out at the bottom, otherwise it cuts into you. The
other
things are that the strap must go to the inside slot first, and then out
through
the outside - this prevents the webbing from slipping (the other direction will
slip). The last thing is that if you weave to the back of the plate, you will
need a chest strap (this is how Gavin does it - the reason is you can get your
light farther back), if you weave to the inside you will not need one. In
keeping with "less is best" and "if you don't need it don't take it", I go with
the front weave, although I have one of each and you may have seen both in the
video - the black one is to the back, the silver to the front. I am going to
change that, as the black one was as an experiment only.

Keep in mind on the pressure guage thing that you know how much gas you
should have by your depth and time, and the hose configuration I showed you
makes everything pass by your neck so you can hear it , other than the high
pressure, which is loud and does not lose much gas anyway when it blows due to
the small pinhole sized internal hose . Also, if you have a leaking reg,
expecially deep, you will hear the air travelling in the hoses behind your neck.

The safety of simple gear far out weighs any perceived peace of mind
provided by additional gear.

Thanks for telling me about this. - G
