i was recently to ken sallot of the wkpp and he has asked me to post data on the wkpp lamp of choice. this is my contribution to "posative information exchange". there are currently 5 manufacturers of the two pin brl lamp. the specs dont very a lot but the differences r visable underwater. all of the lamps in the chart below have an "average life" of 50 hours. manufacturer approx lumens color temp in degrees kelvin osram 1600 3200 philips 1400 3400 wiko 1400 3400 ge 1400 3400 ushio 1400 3300 based on the above, the osram lamp should perform better than the other four manufacturers and the ushio lamp should perform worse than the others. i have ordered two of the osram, philips and ushio. when they come in i will test these three lamps at the same time in order to conduct a "see it for your self" underwater test. i will post the results as soon as the test is complete. for additional reference on mr-11, mr-16 and test tube lamps see the article "60 points of light" in the may/june 1995 edition of underwater speleology by the cds of the nss. jeff carson orlando, fl. wkpp
