At this point in time 40 years after her sinking only about 500 (and that is being generous) have ever dived the Andrea Doria. On average about 75 divers a year reach her and of that 75 almost 75% are on repeat trips meaning that only about 16 or so new divers get there each year. You see there are only three commercial dive boats that charter to the Doria each year. The Wahoo, the Seeker and the Sea Hunter. I have been fortunate over the past 4 years to accumulate 25 dives on her aboard the Wahoo. Badge of Courage -- I dont think so. Accomplishment and exciting dive -- absolutely. I might suggest that if the "technical divers" you are hanging out with feel that the Andrea Doria is a "Badge of Courage" get some new friends -- these guys will end up killing you t/c Joel Silverstein
