Rod,
i've helped Dan Berg "suck in" a few people into buying his "Ultimate Pony
Bracket".
it fits snug, is strong enough to pick up a set of doubles by the pony &
bounce it on the floor without it budging. the or something is stainless
steel (coated).
by the way i sling my own pony(ies) when i use them.
as far as equipment & configs go you should use what is comfortable for you.

btw big arty would probably forget it along with his suit if it wasn't
attached to something.

dive on & on hank

I agree 100% with Rich on this. I always have a pony bottle on a dive, OC
or CC. Rigging them is a huge issue. I have tried at least a dozen gizmos
to do it. The aluminum pony tamers dinged out of commission too easily....

... Dan Berg has a very simple pony attaching device made out of
nylon strap or something. I've seen it but never used it. He has probably
sucked in someone on this list into buying one and they might comment. Or
do it like Arty Kirchner and carry it under your arm.
