Furthermore, fear of lawsuits would prevent any change to the status quo, regardless of the validity of that change. Mr. Mount, you've made my decision regarding your agency. I would never support or patronize an agency that cowers in the shadows of ignorance, afraid to come out and learn truth because of liability issues. In contrast, I observe people like our (in)famous George, or the Captains I dive with in British Columbia, or Bill Brooks, who runs one of the finest dive stores on the continent, none of whom are afraid of lawsuits, in spite of the information they disseminate, the risks associated with that dissemination, or the risks associated with their operation. The only conclusion I can reach, Mr. Mount, is that the difference is knowledge and competence. They are not afraid of lawsuits because they pursue the truth, seek accurate knowledge, and are competent, and therefore have nothing to fear. You, and your agency, by contrast, are afraid of lawsuits. It is probably a wise choice in your case. I leave you to draw your own conclusions on this contrast, and to the maintenence of your "estate". --------- "huh?" -Jammer, 1992 ---------
