I have yet to do any technical diving/decompression diving per se, but I have the Mixed Gas Diving book and have played with a lift bag on simulated deco stops. I am waiting until I have a few more dives on the logbook until I head to Ocean Tech and take some TDI courses. I am scheduled as a subject in a hyperbaric study at Duke on O2 surface intervals. Anyway... As a planned decompression dive, you should probably plan for the eventuality that you may not be able to find/get to the anchor line before beginning your ascent. This may mean bringing your own supply of deco gas (if other than air) with you. It should mean that you have a reel and lift bag. I was shown this technique by Joe Mierwa after he attended a deep air course with TDI. You fill the liftbag after hooking it on to the end of the reel and let it shoot to the surface. This is not easy to do without changing your depth so *PRACTICE*. Once the bag gets to the surface, you make yourself negative and float in the current suspended from the lift bag. The bag should be visable at the surface and the boat can come get you. I'lllet you know any other techniques after I come back from Fl !
