I too have the experience of getting narked around 90 feet at Gilboa Quarry. But from my experience it seems that the extremely long swims in the 39 degree water are major contributors to this situation. Also, have you ever noticed that you can detect both narcosis and cold better when there isn't much to look at down there? The walls are cool but not totally engaging to the mind. I also get narked easily in the Great Lakes. This past week I did the Arabia (around 95') and the Forest City (around 150') both in 38 degree water and yep, got narked. Still I recall all the wonderful artifacts I saw. The darker waters of Huron seem to make for a more depressed narcotic experience than something deep in clear waters. But that may just be my personal attitude - low vis usually makes me feel more cautious and paranoid/narked too. Caves are usually not so gloomy to me because the water is clear so the darkness gets easily dispelled by the old "neutraleak". I was actually disappointed in the Arabia, after spending several summers diving in Superior, Huron/Tobermory was just a bit of a let down!! Spoiled rotten I guess :> Going to do cave diving in Missouri in October - anyone else going? Robin Fitch rfitch@in*.ed*
