I just subscribed to Techdiver a few days ago, and am just now getting around to sending out a letter of info about myself. Here goes. I am a NAUI divemaster who lives in Virginia, and spends most weekends diving the wrecks of New Jersey. I have logged over 100 wreck dives off the Jersey coast (not exactly Gary Gentile numbers, but still going). I find these wrecks to be fascinating, and wouldn't mind it if I spent the rest of my hopefully long and full life diving the North Atlantic. Although I have been diving for about 5 years, I figure that by the end of this year I will finally get Nitrox certification (I just haven't had the time to date). It is somewhat difficult to find an IANTD or ANDI-certified dive shop in my area. If anyone has any suggestions for nitrox courses in the D.C.-area please give me a yell. An instructor that I help out (also one of my dive buddies), is really heavy into cave diving, and he has piqued my interest in the subject. I hope to at least get a cavern certification before the end of the year. My buddy keeps chiding me for squeezing through wrecks when I can be floating through expanses of beautiful cave formations, and giant subterranean rooms. Sounds nice, but is it? I want to know before it's too late. Anyway, there is my profile. I am glad to finally get the chance to participate in a group that attempts to carry on intelligent conversations rather than just flaming the hell out of each other over topics as substantial as what shoulder your octopus should come over and which hand should be standard for releasing a weightbelt. Although rec.scuba might fulfill a necessary purpose (no arguments here), it doesn't seem to fulfill mine. Regards, and I look forward to substantive discussions Eric Velte
