Airlines flying out of the US allow two bags, each not weighing more than 70lbs and dimensions not exceding (L+H+W) bag 1: 62" and bag 2: 45". Also one carry-on up to 50lbs @ 45". These rules seem to apply in most of the Pacific too, in larger aircraft. I have successfully traveled with Coleman camping coolers (the 60 quart models) which are light, reasonably protective of camera gear and cheap. THE QUESTION But Europe. Another story. Does anyone have tips on how to get around the one bag 20kilo rule with excess charged at 1% of the first class fare per kilo (multiplied by your shoe size in metric) ? Accompanied freight? They never heard of it. It would be nice to have my gear arrive with me. Many thanks Peter Heseltine Seriously thinking of taking up tiddlywinks or some other sport where the shape of my light does not weigh so heavily on the mind.
