Coleman Sachs, Sgt. Boone County Water Rescue Team says: I am not a diver. With hearing in one ear ENT's have told me not to risk the loss of the one that works! Makes sense to me. Doesn't make sense to me. With good training and a smidgen of common health sense, your risk of loss of hearing is negligible. In fact I haven't heard of deafness (total anyway) being at all a common result of dive accidents. Earsqease and reverse earsqease are easily avoided. Just don't dive if you ever have problems clearing your ears, and especially don't dive after taking antihistamines or decongestants. I suppose neurological related hearing loss can also occurr from massive arteriol gass embolism, or an extreme case of untreated bends, but that would be the least of your worries in those situations, and you would have to do some extremely inept/irresponsible diving to bring on these types of accidents. If I were you, IMHO, I would at least try it and see if it is something you would want to do. Mark Lenhart...scuba@uc*.be*.ed* "Anything one man can imagine, others will make real" - Joules Verne
