I saw a post on here by one of the WKPP guys complaining about being cave
cerified by a stroke, and then sold a bunch of useless gear. In the interest
of not seing the same mistake made by others, I called another WKPP diver
and asked him what the story was.
If appears that this guy was indeed taught to do everything the wrong way,
and in the process was sold the following $2,000 worht of gargbage:
- transformer pack, instead of a proper harness
- bondage wings, instead of proper wings
- high pressure steel tanks, instead of 104's (more profit in the tanks,
and the special manifold that won't work on any other tanks), wrong buoyancy
characteristics, less gas than 104'sw , etc.
- a square light
This is a real shame, as the fellow here is a college student, and had to
replace all of this gear with the right stuff. He had to be retrained to
dive properly, as he was hopelessly fucked up.
Who is this stroke who taught this guy? Paul Heinerth - GIVE THIS GUY A
WIDE BERTH
- Here is what he could have had for $2,000:
- 104's with manifold etc about $750
- harness and wings 250
- AUL light 450
- complete set of regulators, backup lights, reels, maks , fins, all
accessories
With the money spent replacing his gear he could have bought a scooter
or a drysuit. Plese check around with the pros before getting trained or
buying gear, and avoid the charlatans, and the dumbasses.
