Jim Surely the pony has a role in diving, but it is the limiting factor, if it is used as a redundant gas supply then the size of the pony and your gas management limits the dive. In Orkney we have similar problems with cold etc to you, we continually see divers using ponies as a bailout when they have no idea on their duration and have problems with freeflow with their primary reg.(normally when it is straight from a service). The common result is the reserve gas is not sufficient to clear the deco obligation accumulated.
