Robin, there are many wonderful wrecks all along the stretch from Tawas
to Mackinac, with some of the best in the Thunder bay area.I'm not too
sure about wrecks specifically in tawas, but it's well worth the extra
couple hours to go to the straits or to alpena.Unfortunately,my
contacts in Michigan are over 10 years out of date ( I moved to
Florida in '83) but any good local dive store should be able to point
you in the right direction.Depending on your skills, there are wrecks
in deoths ranging from 20' to 200'+.In Alpena, the grecian used to be a
good dive;south of you in Gindstone city is the Philadelphia, also a
good one .Both are in about 110' of water. If you can make it up to the
straits, the Cedarville is an awesome sight. She lies upside down in
depths ranging from 60-110 feet. She's a steel hull freighter that sank
in 1966 within sight of the Big Bridge.Rogers city also has some nice
ones, including a couple you can do from shore.Check with the locals,im
sure there's been a lot of new stuff found since i left.
