Rod, responding to your questions of today (7/9/96): >>Chris, who did the gas mixing? Who checked the % O2 in bottles? When were they last checked? You have omitted this very important information so I assume you don't know and they did not check the O2 just prior to the descent-or you would have said so. It is just as likely that he toxed on O2 as anything else that has been suggested. Thatnks for the information.<< I wasn't ignoring the O2 tox possibility. It is, of course a possibility if Summerhill had a bad mix or breathed the wrong gas at the wrong time. Summerhill specifically told me what mix he was using as I interviewed him. Since he was known for his meticulous preparation, I accepted his 7% O2 as fact. I didn't witness a predive O2 check. If one was done, I missed it. I don't recall seeing an O2 Analyser, but my guess is there certainly was one on board. I don't know specifically who mixed the gas. I assume it was someone in the Maryland/DC area. I don't know when the bottles were filled, but assume it was shortly before the dive. I also know about "assume," so will follow this subject a bit further and see if it leads anywhere. Chris
