Greetings, one and all! I'm new here, so I just thought I'd introduce myself, sorta say hi. I got certified while I was stationed in Hawaii in 1980, got to PADI dive- master. I was considering working in Hawaii as a Dive Instructor, but came back to Atlanta to go to school. The US Army, in its infinite competance, suceeded in loosing the box of personal items that included my gear, logs, and such. I guess I took it as an omen, and didn't dive again until this past year. I've gotten recertified up to PADI rescue diver, and will have my DM within a few weeks. I plan on taking the IDC course, and keep moving on! The shop where I'm learning has Nitrox, and Trimix classes and certification from ANDI (I think thats the acronym). They teach caving, deep diving, wreck penetration, and other 'technical' specalities, and I'm planning to take 'em all! To instructor level, is my preference. I figured this would be a good spot on the net to hang out. Back when I last dove (83), there were no computers, very little talk of 'technical' subjects, no nitrox, and heliox was something that Cousteau used. I think the current trend towards making more highly technical aspects of diving more generally available is a very good thing. In my opinion, dissemination of knowledge about subject areas is extreamly important, espically in situations where people may have information that could be of life-critical importance to me. So I'm glad to see this group for that reason too! As for now, I'll sit back and pick up on some of the threads and just listen in for a while.
