>In a time when dive boats are half filled, young men and women are still dying >under the water, and smoke filled training classes are more abundant than >Carter >has liver pills I think that the rebreather is best kept in the Military and >specialized application areas and SCUBA should stay as SCUBA. Joel, well said. The rebreather thing is being driven by the bullshitters. Anybody who wants to step up and "pet the pony", can do it like Farb and the "Dude" did - go by a CCR 15.5, the civilian MK16, or shut the fuck up about rebreathers. These things, other than in the hands of a guy like Farb, are the dream of the weenies like who can't do it on SCUBA, and have no business doing it at all, what Volker calls "never-evers", like the Deep Caving Team weenies. -G
