Ok folks Couple of snippets from the annual IANTD conference in the UK. 1. AP Valves released the 'Inspiration' C2 system, briefly:- Electronic control fixed PPo2. 2 setpoints 0.75 and 1.3. Split over the shoulder counterlungs c/w water trap system etc (sound familiar!), 5 hour scrubber duration. 1000 denier material used throughout. OC bailout included, can be flown manually (o2 and diluent). Auto sensor calibration on start up. Voting logic on the sensor array etc etc - retail price in the UK will be 2000 UK pounds - (around 3000 US dollars). First 50 units will be available within the next month The Draeger people looked a little pissed!) 2. Removal of requirements for instructor registration with the Health and safety executive (really only affects UK based people, but included for interest. No requirement to have restricted part 4 exemption to teach proffesionally, no requirement to have an HSE approved Diving First Aid cert. Only requirement is a valid in date commecial diving medical. Sanction has been given for instructors teaching gas courses to breathe the same gas as the student (up until now the poor instructor has had to breathe air). Gas training can now be conducted down to 75metres (previous limit was 50 metres). 3.
