Both are advised (and teached) as first-aid procedures, to stabilize
the victim while waiting for a medical evacuation / treatment.

Remember, we are not doctors. (at least, not all of us :-) )

That one is essential. You *really want* to know if someone on
the boat is allergic to aspirin. Another stuff called SERMION is used
here as a substitute.

If you read the complete editorial, you see of course that it is a joke,
meaning that any FFESSM diver at level 2 or above knows about deco dives,
and at level 4 about mixes, including nitrox - as standard topics, not
specialties.
And now what ? Different agency, different ways. Karma.
The joke is indeed inappropriate.
