I do like the idea of >doing my first mix dives with someone who does this kind of a thing for >a living, i.e. an instructor, but is the trade off worth the money? At one time, before several close calls I thought that 30 + years of diving, deep diving experience ( on air) were more than enough and no SOB could teach me anything more. The money I spent on Tech. Nitrox, Advanced Deep Air, And Trimix courses was the best $$ I ever spent. Not only had a hell of alot of fun, but really did learn things of value to me that have made all my subsequent dives much safer and more fun. Go for that training, which, of course, is only as good as the instructor. Most of my courses were IANTD and some cross cert. with TDI. But getting the right instructor is what really counts.
