I went to see Peter today and he told me the whole story. He was teaching a class, the girl in question is a student of his, but was not in his class for that dive. Peter attempted to help her initially get out of the engine room where she hit her head. He said she was panic struck and thrashing violently. Peter tried to offer his mask to her but she did not respond. Her boyfriend inflated her BC and sent her on her way. At that time she had her regulator in her mouth. Peter looked up a little later and he saw her shooting up with her two regs dangling. He thought she was gone at that point. He said to me that he felt the surface crew could help her better than he, as he had 3 students on the wreck that he had responsibility for. On the surface, the crew revived her, gave O2 and called the Coast Guard which sent out a small inflatable to pick her and her boyfriend up in. At the hospital she and the guy were placed in the chamber and were sent down on a profile as a safety precaution. The girl had caughed up blood while on the surface on board the boat. Peter received flowers from the girl as a thanks for trying to help her. I am glad no one was seriously hurt, and it is obvious that the story that was originally relayed was similar, but slightly bent.
