Aspirin has been recommended against as a treatment for DCI because it can mask the developing systmes, thus interefering with correct diagnosis and treatment. It has been suggested as a *prophylactic* because it interferes with the clotting process; hindering it. It does not *thin the blood* and is not suggested that this aspect of it's activity would assist in *treatment* of DCI. The suitable dose for prophylaxis is that given to little old ladies with arthritis (like my gran) - *very* low. Chronic aspirin abuse leads to intestinal disorders. So far as I am aware, there has been no clinical evidence for a prophylactic effect of aspirin, nor have them been any demonstrable side effects under pressure. I however, avoid pills whenever possible. DCI I can survive, depth induced stupidity I may not. Jason
